AION 2 Wings & Flight Power Guide: Get and Upgrade Wings
Wings in AION 2 aren't just the game's signature look — they're a real piece of your character's power and a collectible account-wide stat system. You get your first pair early, then keep unlocking more, and even wings you don't wear make you stronger. This guide explains Flight Power, ownership bonuses, how to equip wings for the content you're doing, and how to upgrade them, as of October 2026.
Your first wings
You earn your first pair, the Lesser Daeva Wings, simply by following the opening main story. Once unlocked, flying becomes a core movement and combat tool (on PC, hold Shift while airborne to sprint/glide faster). Open your menu and look for the Wings icon to see every wing you own, switch the equipped one, and preview unlock sources.
If you're still getting used to three-dimensional movement, read the aerial combat guide first — height and engage-from-above matter far more than most new players expect.
The key concept: Flight Power stacks across every wing you own
This is the part people miss. Each wing contributes to a total Flight Power value, and collecting wings raises it permanently:
- Your first normal-quality pair gives a base chunk of Flight Power (about 1,000).
- Additional wings add more on top (for example, later pairs add hundreds more), so the more wings you collect, the higher your overall flight potential climbs.
On top of Flight Power, owning wings grants ownership (collection) bonuses that apply even when that wing is not equipped — extra Flight Power, Boss Attack, PvE Damage Tolerance and HP. In the wings menu you can see each owned wing's contribution listed separately from your equipped wing's stats. So a wing is worth unlocking for its permanent collection bonus even if you never plan to wear it.
Equipped wings are a content choice
While ownership bonuses always apply, the wing you actually equip gives its own set of stats, and different wings lean different ways:
- Some wings are clearly PvE oriented (PvE Damage Boost, PvE Damage Tolerance, Boss Attack).
- Others favor PvP survival or mobility.
- Popular examples like the Talistra wings are considered among the strongest available and are obtained free by playing — bought with special mission/season coins you earn throughout the season rather than the cash shop. Other pairs come from dungeon drops, quest lines, and event shops like the Shugo Festival (some festival wings require you to beat a specific story quest before the shop even appears).
Practical habit: check each wing's equipped stats and match it to what you're doing. A PvE-damage wing for your dungeon night, a tougher wing for Abyss sieges. Don't assume the newest or rarest-looking wing is automatically best for your class and content.
How to get more wings
- Main story and progression quests hand out several pairs naturally.
- Mission/season coins buy strong wings like Talistra — just keep playing the season content.
- Dungeon drops, including endgame Conquest Dungeons.
- Event and festival trade shops (Shugo Festival, Nightmare-related rewards) that cost event tokens.
- Crafting / Substance Morph for certain upgrades.
Treat wing collecting as something that happens in parallel with leveling rather than a separate grind; the ownership bonuses mean every unlock is permanent account power.
Upgrading wings
Wings can be enhanced for bigger stats. Before you commit materials, the game shows an enhancement preview — required materials, success rules and the actual stat gains — so always open that preview first. Different wings scale different stats as they level; a popular PvE pair, for example, pushes Flight Power up toward 100 and adds PvE Damage Boost at high enhancement levels.
Rules to respect:
- Check the preview's materials and success chance before spending rare reagents.
- Confirm the wing's stats actually fit your build — don't heavily upgrade a wing you'll replace for your main content.
- Use Substance Morph and gathered/endgame materials to feed upgrades rather than buying everything; players who level gathering have a real advantage here.
- Upgrade the wing you wear most first; collection ownership bonuses come from simply owning wings, not from enhancing every pair.
Legendary (highest-grade) wings
The top-tier wings require their corresponding Sealed Ancient Wing, which drops from Conquest Dungeons — endgame content you can attempt from level 45, and only after completing the regular (Exploration) version of those dungeons. In other words, Legendary wings are a level-45 endgame chase gated behind dungeon progression, not something to stress about while leveling. Plan your Conquest clears once you hit the cap and have the item level to survive; the level-45 checklist puts that in order.
How wings fit your leveling and gearing
- While leveling: take every free story and mission wing, equip whichever has the best stats for your current content, and enjoy the movement speed — faster flying genuinely speeds up questing zones.
- Approaching 45: start choosing a PvE wing and a PvP wing deliberately, and upgrade your main PvE pair using the preview.
- At endgame: chase Talistra via season coins and work toward Sealed Ancient Wings from Conquest Dungeons for the Legendary tier, while stacking ownership bonuses from every wing you've collected.
A couple of quick traps: ignoring wings entirely (they're easy combat power), spending rare upgrade materials on a wing without reading the preview, and wearing one "favorite" wing everywhere instead of swapping PvE/PvP. These are exactly the kind of small power leaks listed in the beginner mistakes guide.
TL;DR
First wings come from the story; hold Shift to fly fast. Flight Power and ownership bonuses (HP, Boss Attack, PvE tolerance) stack from every wing you own, equipped or not. The equipped wing adds content-specific stats, so swap between PvE and PvP pairs. Strong wings like Talistra are free via season/mission coins; upgrade through Substance Morph after reading the success preview; Legendary wings need Sealed Ancient Wings from level-45 Conquest Dungeons. Collect constantly, equip deliberately, upgrade your main pair.
