AION 2 Currencies Guide: Kina, Quna, Odyle, AP, Fragments

Quick spelling note: the global game calls this currency Kina. If you played the original Aion, many veterans still call it Kinah — it's the same thing.

AION 2 throws a lot of different money at you, and the easiest way to waste weeks of progress is spending the wrong one in the wrong shop — several vendors sell the same item (Stigma Shards, for example) for completely different currencies. Here's what each currency is, how you earn it, and where it should actually go, as of October 2026.

The big one: Kina (Bound vs Unbound)

Kina is your everyday gold, but it comes in two states, and understanding this changes everything:

So when someone says they're "farming millions," they mostly mean unbound Kina they can list with. Good sources: worthwhile Daily/Weekly Duties, Expeditions, dense open-world monster packs, gathering materials with steady demand, and Market flipping. Vendor your junk and list stones and good Unique pieces the same evening rather than hoarding them.

A short weeknight loop experienced players run: clear your five best Duty/regional dailies → spend Odyle Energy on the fastest valuable cube → vendor junk and list stones → gather Odyle on the flight path home → spend leftover minutes on the Broker.

Odyle Energy: the real progression throttle

Odyle Energy is the resource that opens the valuable Odyle Energy Cube after the final boss of an Expedition dungeon and powers many instance rewards. Think of it as your daily "bonus loot" button:

Once your Energy is spent for the day, grind dense pack zones (which don't all need Energy) rather than logging off if you want more Kina.

Quna: the premium currency

Quna is the cash-shop currency, used for the Planet's Call battle pass, cosmetics and conveniences. Two things matter for free players:

Free players can still earn everything that affects power; they mainly can't sell surplus or buy missing materials as easily, which makes gathering more important for them.

Abyss Points (AP): PvP progression currency

You earn AP from sieges, field bosses, rifts, Abyss quests and objectives (death to players doesn't directly remove it). Spend it in the Abyss Trade Shop:

A warning on Potential: fully developing it on an item needs both stones and a large AP payment at every step, so only invest Potential into PvP gear you'll genuinely use for a long stretch. How to earn AP efficiently is in the endgame Abyss coverage linked from the level-45 checklist.

Event/shop tokens: Phantasmal Fragments and Centuryroot Tokens

These are easy to waste because their shops overlap with AP and Kina:

The #1 currency mistake: duplicate spending

Several shops sell Stigma Shards and Daevanion Crystals. Players routinely blow Phantasmal Fragments on a Stigma, then realize they needed those Fragments for a Pantheon Statue unlock while their AP sat unused. Before you buy, ask which currency is cheapest for you right now:

Currency Shop Best early use Long-term target
Kina General / Market Upgrades, crafting fees, stones Keeper gear, Market capital
Odyle Energy Expedition cubes Daily bonus loot cubes Crafted BiS materials
Abyss Points Abyss Trade Stigma Shards PvP gear, Potential
Phantasmal Fragments Nightmare Trade Daevanion Crystals, Soul Codex Pantheon Statues, Wings
Centuryroot Tokens Shugo Festival Daevanion Crystals, Wisdom Stones Event Wings

A safe default: AP for your early Stigma Shards, Fragments for permanent Daevanion growth, Kina for gearing and crafting, and don't touch Potential until you have a PvP keeper. Align all of this with the gear order in the enhancement guide so you're not funding gear you'll replace.

Weekly routine that respects every currency

  1. Daily/weekly Duties first — cheap Bound Kina and materials.
  2. Spend Odyle Energy on the highest-value Expedition/Conquest cube you can clear.
  3. Do your Abyss activities and Command quests before the Wednesday reset for AP.
  4. Check the Nightmare and Festival shops for the week and buy permanent-growth items, not duplicates.
  5. List unbound Kina items on the Market (members) or craft for your own keepers (free players).
  6. Gather Odyle on the way home to refill energy without spending cash.

TL;DR

Bound Kina pays your costs, unbound Kina pays the Market; Odyle Energy is your daily bonus-loot throttle (recharge daily or craft more); Quna is premium and reachable in-game via the member Exchange; AP funds Stigma Shards early and PvP gear/Potential later; Phantasmal Fragments buy permanent Daevanion growth and statues/wings. Never buy the same item from two shops without comparing — duplicate spending is the real endgame trap.
