AION 2 Leveling Guide 1–45: Fastest Path

AION 2 Leveling Guide 1–45: The Fastest Path to Max Level
I've taken my main through the full 1–45 grind on the global servers, and the biggest surprise was how simple the fast route is — and how many people accidentally make it twice as long. This guide covers what to do at every bracket, the unlocks you should never skip, why the game crawls after level 40, and the movement/combat tricks that shave hours off. Everything here is for the global PC version as of October 2026.
The Golden Rule of AION 2 Leveling
Follow the golden campaign quests (Daeva's Campaign). That's the whole backbone. They give the best XP per minute, and — just as important — they unlock every major system in the intended order. Everything else in this guide is about filling the small XP gaps around them, not replacing them.
What not to do:
- Clear every exclamation mark on the map before pushing the story (you'll outpace the curve and waste time).
- Grind random field mobs for hours (lowest XP rate in the game).
- Burn scaled endgame content early (more on that below).
Level Unlock Table: When Everything Opens
Keep this table open while you play; most "how do I unlock X?" questions are answered here.
| Level | What unlocks |
|---|---|
| 4 | Skill points begin (Mastery skills) |
| 5 | First ascension + wings — Elyos (Asmodian: level 6) |
| 7 | Titles — equip 3 effect slots immediately |
| 9 | Enhancement (don't spend stones on leveling gear!) |
| 10 | Pets, wardrobe, Substance Morph, Gathering + Crafting |
| 12 | Regional Missions — your XP gap-filler starts here |
| 13 | Daevanion board, Sealed Dungeons, Strongholds, Shugo Festival |
| 16 | Legions (guilds), Empyrean Monoliths (amulet growth) |
| 20 | First dungeon: Krao Cave Expedition (item level 200) |
| 22 | Second ascension + Stigma system (quest: The One Who Hears the Voice) |
| 27 / 32 / 37 | Additional Stigma slots (slots 2–4) |
| 28 | Urugugu Canyon Expedition |
| 30 | Daily Dungeon — 14 runs per week, your main Enhance Stone farm |
| 35 | Fire Temple Expedition |
| 40–44 | The long wall — roughly 70% of total 1–45 XP lives here |
| 45 | Max level: Market opens, Abyss, Nightmare, endgame dungeons begin |
Phase 1: Levels 1–12 — Ascension and Wings
Do nothing except the golden campaign. It walks you through becoming a Daeva, getting your wings (level 5 for Elyos, level 6 for Asmodian), and learning combat.
While you play, build these habits:
- V to take off and land, Space to glide, Shift to dodge (ground) or speed up (air), C to mount. Flying + gliding is faster than running everywhere; flap, glide to conserve Flight Power, flap again.
- Left-click basic attacks regenerate mana and have no cooldown; right-click skills spend it. Weave basic attacks into every fight or you'll run dry in seconds.
- Shift-dodge through boss mechanics — many big attacks can be avoided completely, not just mitigated.
- Attack enemies from behind or the side for positional damage bonus (every class gets this).
- Spend Skill Points only on your core skills and left/right-click attacks — don't spread points evenly. skill point guide
- At level 7, open your Titles menu and fill all three effect slots.
- At level 9, ignore the temptation to enhance white/green/blue gear. Wear quest rewards. day-one mistakes
Phase 2: Levels 12–22 — Regional Missions and Your First Dungeon
At level 12, Regional Missions begin appearing at hubs. These are your designated XP supplements. The efficient way: at each outpost, grab the Regional Missions that run the same route as your campaign quests, so one trip completes both. Skip anything that sends you back across an already-finished zone.
Other notes:
- Level 20 — run Krao Cave as soon as you can. It's good XP and gear, and you don't need to "save" dungeon runs. But opening the reward Cube costs Odyle Energy (20 at Krao) — don't blow your whole energy bar here, because gear from low-level dungeons gets replaced quickly and free energy regen is limited (roughly 2–3 reward Cubes a day as of October 2026). Run it, be selective with Cubes.
- Sealed Dungeons and Strongholds appear at 13, but their rewards scale to your level — leave them for 45, where they become a core material source. Don't get baited.
- Shugo Festival (13) gives rewards that grow with your level; there's no need to stop leveling for it.
- At 16, grab glowing Empyrean Traces along your route and turn them in at Monoliths — permanent amulet growth, free on the way.
- At 22, do the Stigma quest immediately (The One Who Hears the Voice). Stigmas are powerful extra skills, and Stigma Shards are extremely scarce — eventually focus one main Stigma toward breakpoints (5/10/15) rather than leveling four evenly.
Phase 3: Levels 22–40 — Dungeons, Daily Dungeon, Continents
Keep the same loop: campaign spine + on-route Regional Missions. Queue the Expeditions when you hit them — Urugugu Canyon at 28, Fire Temple at 35.
The key habit change is at level 30: clear the Daily Dungeon every week. The budget is 14 runs per week per account, and it's the single best source of Enhance Stones, the resource every level-45 character is desperate for. Starting this habit at 30 means arriving at max level with a stockpile instead of a deficit.
Continue hoarding, not spending: Enhance Stones, Odyle Energy, Kina, good Manastones, Resurrection Spiritstones. The two exceptions worth growing early are your amulet and belt, permanent pieces you keep the whole journey (enhance via their special scrolls, then Substance Morph them upward).
Crafting and gathering unlock at 10: gathering is free to level as you fly around (including airborne Odyle nodes), but don't dump Kina into leveling all five crafting professions early — materials are expensive at launch and the payoff is a level-45 concern.
Phase 4: Levels 40–45 — The Wall Is Supposed to Be There
This is where newcomers think something is broken. Here's the truth, from community progression data: levels 40–44 contain roughly 70% of all XP required to go 1–45. The late stretch is deliberately long. Your first 39 levels are the tutorial; the last few are a real grind. It is the same for everyone — it is not a bug, and you weren't "nerfed."
When a campaign quest turns red and you're under-leveled, fill the gap in this order:
- Regional Missions you skipped (including their Wisdom Stone rewards, which grant extra skill points).
- Sealed Dungeons — now is when spending some scaled content makes sense.
- Queue your available Expeditions and keep clearing the 14 weekly Daily Dungeon runs.
- Do not just grind wild mobs — that's the slowest option in the game.
Stigma slots keep opening (32, 37), and the third ascension at 32 adds power — make sure you've done the unlock quests so you're not fighting the wall under-powered.
Movement and Combat Tricks That Save Hours
- Fly everywhere reasonable: V up, hold direction, hold Space to glide when energy dips, V to land. Underwater you can surface and take off seamlessly.
- Auto-path is your friend: click a quest in the log, or use Alt+1 through Alt+9 to auto-run to tracked objectives. There's no auto-battle — your character travels, but you fight manually.
- Use teleport scrolls liberally; they're cheap compared to the minutes they save.
- Back attacks + Q/E chain skills + Shift dodges + left-click mana regen form your entire combat rhythm. Master them early and you'll kill faster, drink fewer potions, and die less — all of which is free XP speed.
What Happens at 45
The level grind ends and the game becomes an item-level gate system — the Market opens (free players can't use it before 45 regardless), and dungeons unlock in a ladder starting around item level 700 (Draupnir) up to 2800 (Sanctuary raid). Expect to hit 45 somewhere around 800–1,000 item level if you followed the campaign. That's a whole new guide. what to do at level 45 endgame roadmap
One last pre-45 reminder: before you create your character, agree on faction and server with any friends — each server is a single faction, and there's no undo. Elyos vs Asmodian guide
