AION 2 Spiritmaster Guide: Summons and Elemental Fusion
The Spiritmaster (the classic summoner, once called Elementalist) is a ranged magic DPS who fights through elemental spirits. It looks like an easy "let the pet do it" class, but top damage comes from actively cycling your summons and stacking toward one big payoff skill: Elemental Fusion. It also brings rare control tools like Fear and dispels, which makes it annoying and powerful in PvP. Here's how it actually plays as of October 2026.
The core loop: Four Elements into Elemental Fusion
Your damage is a build-and-spend cycle, not "summon once and forget":
- Your spirits attack and generate Four Elements stacks.
- When Four Elements is ready and the boss is damageable, fire Elemental Fusion, your heavy hitter (it deals delayed extra damage, boosts all elements, and sometimes refunds Four Elements).
- You then cycle through your elemental spirits to rebuild stacks and do it again.
- Between Fusion casts you weave Cold Shock, Combustion, Jointstrike: Corrode / Curse and Dimensional Control (which triggers whenever your spirits use a skill).
Strong play means managing summons, their buffs, Corrode, your MP and the Fusion window all together — letting a single pet idle while you press nukes on cooldown leaves a lot of damage on the table.
Your spirits and how to use them
You command Fire, Water, Earth and Wind spirits, each with a role:
- Fire Spirit is the aggressive damage summon and a core leveling target (Spirit crit damage and activation chance scale with it).
- Water and Earth spirits help you cycle and stack Four Elements efficiently; some optimized players drop Wind from their rotation entirely and run just Fire/Water/Earth to stack Fusion faster.
- Summon: Ancient Spirit is your premium burst summon — it hits far harder than a basic spirit and is the centerpiece of the damage window.
Buffs and debuffs to keep up
- Flame Blessing — offensive stat bonus and extra damage; the safest general-purpose support skill. At high level it halves the internal cooldown of its bonus-damage proc.
- Enhance: Spirit's Benediction — boosts your spirits offensively and defensively.
- Jointstrike: Corrode — apply it for the damage vulnerability it puts on the target; refresh it before it falls off or you lose a whole damage cycle.
A typical opener: cast Flame Blessing and Spirit's Benediction → Summon Ancient Spirit → apply Corrode → Elemental Fusion as soon as Four Elements is ready → cycle spirits to rebuild → weave Cold Shock/Combustion/Dimensional Control.
Stigmas
The established general-PvE core:
- Summon: Ancient Spirit (priority one — level it deep; at 15 it lowers the cycle requirement from 7 basic attacks to 5, and at 20 it grants roughly +20% base spirit stats).
- Enhance: Spirit's Benediction (toward level 20).
- Jointstrike: Corrode.
- Flame Blessing as the safe fourth slot; Jointstrike: Destructive Attack becomes a serious alternative in more developed builds.
A good leveling plan is to raise all four equipped Stigmas to about level 10 to unlock their key Specialty effects, then concentrate on Ancient Spirit (15, then 20), Benediction and Flame Blessing. As always, resets refund Stigma Shards free, so you can run a PvE spirit-damage preset and a PvP control preset.
Skill priorities
- Cold Shock early — get it to level 12 for the stacking Earth Tremor Attack buff.
- Then push Combustion, Summon: Fire Spirit and Elemental Fusion toward level 20 for primary scaling.
- Keep your spirits' passives and the Four Elements generation tuned so the Fusion cycle stays smooth.
Stat priority
- PvE: Magic Attack / PvE Damage Boost → Spirit damage and Spirit crit (a large share of your parse comes through the pet) → Cast/Combat Speed and Cooldown Reduction → Magic Accuracy to land spells → MP sustain, since an active summoner burns mana.
- PvP: add Max HP and PvP Damage Tolerance; you're a back-line caster who gets jumped.
Leveling and solo
Spiritmaster is a comfortable solo leveler: send a spirit in to tank and damage while you cast from range, DoT with Corrode/Combustion, and barely take hits. It's one of the lower-stress ranged classes for new players who like the pet fantasy, even though mastering the Fusion cycle takes practice — compare it with the other ranged options in the beginner class guide and on the tier list. Follow the leveling route and hold expensive stones for a level-45 keeper spellbook/orb per the level-45 checklist.
PvP playstyle
Spiritmaster is an attrition/control caster in PvP:
- Your spirits apply pressure while you stay at range; use Fear to send an enemy running (disabling a healer or diver at the right moment), dispel buffs, and layer slows/curses.
- You win wars of attrition and peel, not by face-tanking — keep a body between you and divers and let the spirit do the chasing.
- In Abyss fights, control priority targets and sustain damage into the clustered enemy from behind your front line. Positioning in the air matters; the aerial combat guide covers it.
Common Spiritmaster mistakes
- Summoning one spirit and ignoring it — you must cycle spirits to rebuild Four Elements.
- Letting Corrode or Flame Blessing drop and losing a Fusion cycle.
- Firing Elemental Fusion before Four Elements is ready or when the boss is invulnerable.
- Ignoring MP sustain and running dry mid-burst.
- Trying to tank hits yourself instead of letting the spirit hold aggro.
TL;DR
Ranged summoner built on a Four Elements → Elemental Fusion build-and-spend loop with active spirit cycling. Buff with Flame Blessing and Spirit's Benediction, summon Ancient Spirit, keep Corrode up, and weave Cold Shock/Combustion/Dimensional Control between Fusions. Core Stigmas: Ancient Spirit, Spirit's Benediction, Corrode, Flame Blessing. Stack magic and spirit damage, and use Fear/dispels for PvP control. Relaxed to solo, deep to master.
